New Kix in the City's Mission
"New Kix in the City” began in 2019 with one simple mission: Providing brand-new, name-brand sneakers to underserved students to help build confidence, encourage self-esteem, and reduce bullying for this school year. What started as a community collaboration quickly became a movement.
Our Story

In our very first year, community members came together to raise funds and donate brand-new shoes for youth served by Girls Inc. of East Bradenton and the Roy McBean Boys & Girls Club in Sarasota. Together, we were able to provide 150 brand-new pairs of shoes to children in need. In 2020, the initiative continued to grow. Through the support of donors, volunteers, and community partners, we donated over 220 pairs of shoes to the Roy McBean Boys & Girls Club, the Boys & Girls Club of Newtown, and LMA School in Palmetto.
The following year, we partnered with Light of the World International Church and expanded our impact even further raising and distributing over 300 pairs of brand-new shoes to youth and families throughout the community, including students connected to LMA School and the Newtown Boys & Girls Club.
Our goal is simple: To remind every child that they matter, they are supported, and they deserve to step into the future feeling confident one pair of shoes at a time.
History
Originally adopted from our former platform, The JLS Golden Hands Foundation, this initiative continues the mission of bringing the community together through culture, connection, and impact. Through shoe donations, community partnerships, and social experiences, we aim to help PREVENT bullying while reminding young people that they are seen, valued, and deserving of a fresh start.
This campaign is more than just a sneaker event, “New Kix in the City” is a community movement created to help our youth to step into the school year with pride and support.
